My newest review is going to be covering Brick Oven Pizza on Dunbar and 26th in Vancouver. To begin with, we ordered to pick it up from the restaurant, which has a very rustic atmosphere and has a perfect old italian feel to eat in at.
To the pizza itself: I ordered a Medium pepperoni. The highlight of this pizza would definitely be the cheese. It was full bodied and warm, unlike some other artificial or frozen cheeses used on pizza, this cheese was fresh and heated perfectly out of the restaurant's brick oven. My main concern was the spread of toppings.
The pepperoni was thrown on almost at random, and bunched up in areas with no definitive pattern or care taken to properly and evely distribute the topping. It makes me question the care that the pizza makers put into take out pizza or any that is not eaten at the restaurant. The sauce was not bad, but not great by any means.
The pizza wasn't bad when eaten hot, but I did eat some for breakfast the next day and it was far far better than the pizza right out of the oven. Overall, I would give the pizza a 5.3/8 slices. I would have given the pizza a mark in the high 4's but the fact that the pizza cold was pleasantly surprising, i bumped it up to over 5.
Coming up next, a review of the Chain Pizza places. These will include Domino's, Panago Pizza and Pizza Hut.
